Jesus and His Times Megan Weber

Shalom,
There have been a lot of changes in the past few days here in Israel. A group of us took off to Jordan for the weekend while others left to go home. Jordan was absolutely amazing, but it was nice coming back to Jerusalem. It has come to feel like a home away from home.

Our first class session for Jesus and His Times started with lecture and ended with an old city walk. It is nice to have new people to get to know and explore the city with. The past three weeks have been so filled with new adventures I think we all forgot how beautiful the old city truly is. It was an awesome experience to walk through the city and revisit sites but see them from an all new perspective. We walked down to David’s City and walked back up to the Western Wall via the sewage tunnel. We have taken this route before but not up as far as we did this time. We were able to see giant stones from the Roman destruction that landed in the streets and the bottom portion of the Western Wall from the tunnels.

After making our way through the tunnels we got to see the Western Wall and look at diagrams of what the wall would have looked like during Jesus’ time. To revisited the bedrock steps that could have possibly been walked on by Jesus and had Bible story time with Brian. I have a feeling with the content of this class we will get a lot more time for Bible Stories with Brian and I think we are all excited for that.

Our day did not end as it usually does. We had a 9:20 PM tour through the Western Wall tunnels. Although I am very skeptical of tunnels I was excited to see the tunnels and get a better perspective of the Temple that would have been around during Jesus’ time.
