Hue!

Hue!

Jorge Cubillos

After saying goodbye to Hanoi, we have reached our destination of Hue. This beautiful city is divided down the middle by the Perfume river. It is definitely less crowded than Hanoi and has a very calm atmosphere for being Vietnam’s third largest city. We got off the train and headed settled into our new home.

As usual, our day was scheduled with many interesting stops and sites. First on our list was a visit to the Thien Mu Pagoda. This historic temple has seven stories making it the tallest in Vietnam.

After learning a bit about the Buddhism of Vietnam, we traveled to the Imperial City. This was a large walled fortress that was the former palace and capital site of Vietnam prior to the move to Hanoi. This old structure was filled with various living quarters, rooms, and monuments.

After a visit to the palace, it was only appropriate that we have a royal dinner! We dressed up in traditional Vietnamese clothing and were treated with a very delicious meal. It was a great way to finish our first day in Hue.
