Prayers during the COVID-19 pandemic

In these uncertain times, we at Fresno Pacific University want to remind everyone of our foundation: our Lord Jesus Christ. Each Monday through Friday we will present a prayer to bring us comfort and gather our courage. These prayers will come from different members of our community, each of whom will contribute their perspective and experience to help us all lean into the strength of our eternal savior. It is our hope you will use these prayers to guide you and those around you to focus not only on what is seen but what is unseen.

Friday, March 20, 2020: Student Athletes

Prayer Emphasis for the day: Student Athletes

Scripture: The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is near to the broken-hearted, and saves the crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:15-18

Corporate Prayer: Father, continue to be near to all our student athletes, many who have had their seasons canceled or postponed. You promise to be near the broken-hearted. Please minister to their hearts in the midst of disappointment and an incredible sense of loss. Thank you that you hear prayers today.

Personal Prayer: Please spend the next few minutes praying for student athletes during this difficult time.

Prayer Emphasis for the day: Health Care Workers

Scripture: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

Corporate Prayer: Lord Jesus, we thank you for everyone you have called into the field of health care. We pray that health care workers locally and globally are trusting in you to be their strength as they face this pandemic with great care and precision. As they become tired, hungry, worried, anxious, we pray that you will uphold them with your righteous right hand. Amen.

Personal Prayer: Please spend a few minutes in prayer for health care workers, both locally and globally, who are at the front lines of this pandemic.
