In the summer of 2018, my husband, three daughters and I took a huge step of faith and moved across country, away from all of our friends and family, so that I could attend Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary. God was calling me to become a marriage and family therapist. I was already enrolled in an online school, but my heart’s desire was to attend a school with face-to-face instruction and theology integration. Within two months, we were here! Since then, the seminary has truly become my “home away from home.” I have been blessed with a great support system and have developed friendships with those who also have a love for Jesus and deep desire to help people. Furthermore, the seminary has helped to shape and transform me in ways I never imagined. I have learned so much and become more self-aware. I’ve been challenged mentally, emotionally and spiritually—which has helped increase my compassion, empathy and understanding for myself and others. The seminary and other aspects created a conducive environment for me to experience significant personal healing and growth. As I continue this journey, I pray that God continues to cultivate in me a listening and humble heart.
A primary goal of mine is to bring mental health awareness and services to the Hmong community, as well as to other underserved and underprivileged populations. I hope to bridge the gap by offering quality services and education to those of all backgrounds. After graduation, I plan to write books; teach at conferences, marriage workshops and seminars; and become a professor so that I can share the knowledge that I have acquired. By sharing my love of teaching, I hope to give people skills and tools they can use to have a healthier and better quality of life. I especially desire to help those who have experienced trauma, as well as work to restore marriages and families. I wish to see all people thrive the way God intended them to. When I am not doing schoolwork or spending time with family, you can find me preparing lessons for my Bible study groups. I am also a Christian blogger and post authentic, real-life blogs that encourage people to seek and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. Other hobbies of mine include fishing, Bible journaling, reading, art, cooking and playing with our puppy, Leo.
