Ordinary Days = Extraordinary Things

Ordinary Days = Extraordinary Things

The alarm goes off. Another day begins. We commute. We work. We perform daily tasks, carry out responsibilities and interact with people. Ordinary day follows ordinary day. Are we really about kingdom work? Does my job matter? Is what I do even a part of FPU’s mission?

Alumni are here to tell you YES!

In the last year, FPU has sent out students to be teachers, directors, counselors, sales people, pastors, analysts, controllers, principals, accountants and more. They live in Fresno, the Central Valley, California, the United States and around the world. They influence their students, coworkers, employees, employers, clients, customers, congregations, families, friends and neighbors.

Each month another alumni story is added to our Alumni Blog—a story of how FPU enabled an alum to follow their dreams, achieve their goals, serve others, change lives. On Tuesdays, our #TestimonyTuesday posts give glimpses of alumni today—where they are and what they are doing.  These stories highlight a very small fraction of all our alumni whose lives have been forever impacted by FPU and who are in turn carrying the mission, vison and values of this university into their communities. None of this would be possible without all FPU employees and what we do every day.

Our daily interactions with students and coworkers are simple moments in which God can use us where we are: at the front of the classroom, at a desk, behind a counter, in a lab or around each campus. What we do on a day-to-day basis has far-reaching effects. This kind of Christian education in these neighborhoods, in these cities, in this Valley, is only possible because of what we do as part of our “ordinary day.”

Here are a few lines from singer/songwriter Josh Wilson’s song titled, “Dream Small”:

…Just let Jesus use you where you are
One day at a time

Live well
Loving God and others as yourself
Find little ways where only you can help
With His great love…

‘Cause these simple moments change the world…

Keep loving, keep serving
Keep listening, keep learning
Keep praying, keep hoping
Keep seeking, keep searching…
The God who does all things makes oceans from rivers…
Yeah, five loaves and two fishes could feed them all
So dream small

As we complete our tasks today, let’s take a moment to recognize how God is using us where we are to accomplish the extraordinary things he is doing through Fresno Pacific University.
