Day 19 – Faith – 2022

Day 19 – Faith – 2022

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6, NIV

This text is about Enoch, Adam’s great-great-great-great grandson and Noah’s great grandfather. Enoch walked with God (365 years) and was known as one who pleased God. How did Enoch walk with God? Genesis 5 tells us he had a firm trust in God. Enoch’s walk involved fellowship and communion with God. When two friends walk together, they do so to enjoy each other’s company. God desires companionship with his children. Equally necessary is obedience. The apostle John emphasized this in 1 John 1:6: “If we say we have fellowship with Him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.” One cannot walk with God and live in sin.

Uncertainty can result in Christ followers becoming passive, numb or having a survival mentality. Follow Enoch’s example this Advent season. God can restore relationships. God can build our spiritual lives. Prayer can make a difference. Revival can happen in this nation. God can develop our children to be his vessels. Look towards 2023 with a holy confidence.

Prayer Guide:

  1. What rewards can you think of which God has in store for those who earnestly seek him?
  2. Pray: Lord, open my eyes and heart that I might learn what it means to walk with you. Help me identify what hinders my walk. I desire to be pleasing to you in all that I say and do.
