Day 8 – Love
I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign Lord. I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice.
Ezekiel 34:15-16, NIV
The prophet Ezekiel brings “woes” against the shepherds of Israel that are described as “faithless,” “foolish” and “worthless.” The shepherds of Israel that didn’t provide individualized care were accused of taking a position of leadership to feed themselves rather than the flock of God’s people entrusted to them. God was not ambiguous about what he thought of these men.
Like a shepherd, God protects and provides for his children. He heals our wounds and strengthens us when we are too weak to walk on our own. He always gives us safe pasture from the wolves that seek to destroy us, and he pursues us if we have lost our way. Our Shepherd is a faithful
