Day 24 – Hope for the Hopeless from Jennifer T. Smith, Psy.D. – 2021
“but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.”
1 Peter 1:19-20
I often find myself in deep gratitude that Christ is the center of our hope; a lamb without blemish; chosen long before the creation.
In our work at Link Care, we are often walking with others through their darkest valleys. Our clinicians feel a deep calling to journey with people in their most difficult seasons of life, all the while trusting in God’s promises and provision. In times of darkness, anxiety, grief and unpredictability, it can be difficult to see or experience God’s presence, and we are often tempted to put our hope in other things (i.e. career, TV, substance, social media, etc.). Link Care has the honor of sitting with missionaries and pastors who have dedicated their careers and entire lifestyle to furthering the kingdom. However, even with their dedication to our Lord, they also battle all the difficulties this life offers. It’s common for us to hear stories of hopelessness, but this past year seems to bring this loss of hope even deeper.
Sometimes our emotions and feelings overtake the truth that our hope is in the Lord, that Christ was made known as a perfect sacrifice for our salvation and healing. Our prayer is that you find hope in this season of Advent. God has provided many resources for healing and returning us to his presence and comfort. Our clinicians are honored to be such a resource in times of hopelessness and struggle. Where is your hope today? What is your experience of Christ being revealed in this Advent season?
Thank you God, for sending your lamb, without blemish or defect, that we may be made whole in your eyes. What a precious gift you have offered us, of full healing and restoration through Christ. May this Advent season continue to remind us that Christ is the hope of the world.
