Day 11 – No Longer a Mystery to Life from Nicole Linder

Day 11 – No Longer a Mystery to Life from Nicole Linder

The mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Colossians 1:26-27

As COVID started to roll out in the United States and businesses and systems shut down, a wave of panic fell upon everyone. Domestic violence service organizations, like the Marjaree Mason Center (MMC), not only had to make huge pivots and changes in our operations and homes, but news agencies around the world were reporting that domestic violence was expected to escalate as a result of shelter in place. As the only dedicated shelter in Fresno County, we had to move quickly, and without a road map.

Fear rushed in fast and furiously. Many of us woke up and went to bed with anxiety. When I turned to God, the Holy Spirit bathed me in peace and gave me hope, while reassuring me with his promises, “Be still and know that I am God. This not your battle to fight. I, alone, am God.” With the peace of the Lord and his protection over our organization, MMC was able to provide life giving services to nearly 10,000 adults and children last year.

The mystery of an infectious disease may not be known, but Colossians 1:26-27 reminds us that there is no longer a mystery to life. When we feel helpless in our circumstances, we can choose to rest in God’s assurance that he is in us, providing endless wisdom, strength, comfort and hope. Through him we can be beacons of hope, living fully free to honor and glorify him.

Gracious and loving Father, we worship you as the Almighty, Sovereign Prince of Peace. As we prepare our hearts for this Advent season, may we no longer cave to fear but celebrate and share the hope of the world, which is Christ Jesus, our Lord.
